FOOT WELL

I spotted this when I bought it, a hole in the passenger foot well/bulkhead. Not big, but having been a welder I realise "not big" can mean "£££" if your not careful, but the hole was the least of my worries with the Landy.

You can't really see very well (as I'm a crap photographer), but behind the flat blue plate is a fluted floor panel, The panel was rotten and you can see the rust around the bottom lip and the inner edge. 20 minutes with an angle grinder and tin snips (careful for the loom under the floor!) gives you this below. I cut out part of the flat panel as it was starting to rot. Having welded cars 18-month after I originally welded them I can relate to just how quick rot will spread if left alone.

You can see the loom running on top of the chassis in this picture. The  new plate was welded in from both sides (seam weld). Finished off with waxoyle inside and out. Note: if you attempt this then buy the 8 or so new fasteners for the floor plate as you may need to grind them off to remove it, I also used silicone sealant to seal the edges so I can keep the water in that leaks in from the sun roof....... I ran out of fasteners then realized that plain old roofing bolts (with the square nuts?) were made for the job and dirt cheap.
