Suggested by my wife Joanne and adopted by the kids, Humphrey is (rather unfortunately) the name of our 1993 110 County Defender. I would be lying if I said I didn't want one when I was a kid. I loved the Series 3 shape, but as a daily driver that coverd sometimes way too many miles at the time, I can honestly say that the 200tdi reputation made my choice for me. Long lasting, rough as hell, and minimal electrics.
Where I live there are not a great abundance of defenders, in fact, if you see one you will usually get a flash or a wave from the driver. So finding (a decent) one was a bit of a struggle, plenty of 90's though. I specifically wanted an unmolested 200tdi 110 county.......for less than £5000. I eventually found it on the south coast ( ! ) and flew down to pick it up and drive 350 plus mile home. Its well used but very original, it was a running project that didn't require too much, but enough to stop me getting bored. I sold it after 3 years of ownership with 176,000 on the clock....and missed it ever since.
It was to be used as my main mode of transport on mostly reasonable roads with dogs, kids, tents, and mountain bikes inside it. If I didn't get a Defender then I was seriously looking at a VW camper (wouldn't take the abuse...) or a Mercedes Vito van (a little bit dull...).

The PAST HISTORY was reasonably intact, although with hindsight (and a couple of marine supplies receipts found in the back) I suspect it's towed a couple of boats in and out of the sea. I purchased it at the start of 2005 aRECORD OF COSTS have been maintained since then, as has an MOT RECORD. As with all motors, you usually end up with a "TO-DO LIST"
