Engine

Well, it all started out well.......

The motor was running when I got it, although it had a few oil leaks as many mini's do. I had no reason to open the motor up, so I decided to just clean it and replace all the external leaking gaskets and seals.

Some muppet had painted it red by the "throw the tin at the engine" technique, this wasn't enough for them so they also threw a tin of gold paint at it also....then added some aftermarket fake braided hose effect covers. It looked , errr.... different.

After way more time than I care to admit, I degreased, stripped and repainted the motor. Changed the crak out put seal, timing chain gasket, gearchange rod seal, pot joint seals, thermostat gasket, fitted new plugs, leads, cap, etc..

Finally I thought I'd change the clutch seal, so I apply the clutch puller and......nothing. It's solid. "Oh Poo..." I though.

I left the puller on torqued up over night. Next day I heated the taper four times, hit it with hammers. Eventually I sheared the head of the puller.

I got the puller off after I welded the head back on, I had to cut it off in the end, theres another page just on that in the index.

Once it was off I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, bearing etc... everything except the actual flywheel.

Done! ready to drop into the subframe. I know some it it will be removed to fit it, but I just wanted all the bits putting back together until the body was finished, otherwise I'd lose something.
