WORK LAMP

I wanted one of these for several reasons....putting up tents in the dark, loading a trailer at night and reversing in unlit areas was always interesting with blacked out windows and a crap reverse light fitted as standard.

Quite easy really. Source a work light, anywhere from £8 to £50 (cheers Mike). Fit it to the rear. I chose to fit it to the roof itself as the roof rack may not be on all the time. Use a grommet or it will leak.

Then the wires...... I'm no electrician, so I asked my brother who is. He scribbled on a scrap of paper and informed me that the lamp, with the cable and switch I had did not require a relay. So I fitted it without a relay. Essentially I took a live feed (fused) from the battery on a ring terminal to a switch on the dash, then along the headlining to the lamp. The lamp was earthed on the same ground as the rear lights, the switch earthed in the front cab.

I chose a bright, obviously lit switch as I didn't fancy forgetting it was on and blinding anyone behind me.

Job done, doddle.
